"While the General Assembly and the GAPJC may interpret ordination standards set forth in the Book of Confessions and the Form of Government, the Authoritative Interpretation of the Theological Task [sic] on the Peace, Unity, and Purity of the Church adopted by the 217th General Assembly did not (and constitutionally could not) change any ordination standard, including the requirements set forth in G-6.0106b."

This concerned group of ministers and elders who appealed to Presbyterians to stay together and seek a unified response should the 217th GA approve the report of the Theological Task Force on Peace, Unity and Purity of the Church, promised to suggest paths of further action in such a case. That approval has now happened. We offer to the sessions and presbyteries the following:

We are members of the PC (USA) taking action to be in a church where leaders, councils and institutions govern according to the rule of law under the authority of Scripture and a constitution. With the light of Scripture and our church confessions, we understand the recent Authoritative Interpretation of G-6.0108b to be a serious and grave subversion of our church's constitution and one of many recent signs that theological progressives and conservatives are not existing together in peace, unity and purity under the same confessional and institutional boundaries. click here for more
